An extensive study of diverse international and national textile traditions has profoundly influenced my artwork. The knowledge I have gained from the textile histories, techniques, and art forms empowers me to explore a variety of woven and non-woven structures. I transform the taut canvas, traditionally used by painters, into a tension device that stretches threads like warp yarns on a loom. I create captivating two-dimensional patterns and three-dimensional forms by employing a mathematical system to arrange various line colors, values and thicknesses. The unexpected optical mixtures produce rich hues that invite viewers to engage closely with the artwork. The process is often repetitive and meditative, echoing the nature of the work.
